Hamilton-Hibernian called off

Saturday’s scheduled Scottish Premier League clash between Hamilton and Hibernian has been cancelled.

Doubts regarding safety of roads leading to New Douglas Park, the venue for the fixture, combined with the dump of snow on the playing pitch caused the league to postpone the match.

SPL secretary Iain Blair inspected the pitch, and while he acknowledged the efforts put in by ground staff to prepare for Saturday’s match, he still had safety concerns.

It was the third affair to be delayed by the freezing weather in Scotland – in addition to Celtic’s match against Kilmarnock and Dundee’s game against Motherwell, both of which were scheduled for Saturday.
