Hammers keen on Heitinga deal

West Ham United are keen on signing Everton defender John Heitinga on loan, according to the Mirror.

The Dutch international has not featured for the Toffee’s in the league this season, and is keen to put himself into contention for the Netherlands’ squad for next summer’s World Cup finals in Brazil.

The centre-back, who moved to Goodison Park from Atletico Madrid in 2009, has six months remaining on his contract, and a move for the rest of the season could save the Merseyside club around £1.5m in wages.

The Hammers are also interested in Everton striker Nikica Jelavic, who like Heintinga has struggled to hold down a first team place under Roberto Martinez.

Sam Allardyce’s men take on fellow bottom three side Fulham at Craven Cottage, with both sides desperate for the three points that could move them out of the relegation zone.

West Ham are priced at 21/10 to pick up what would be only their second away win of the season.
