Crisis-hit English Premier League side West Ham on Friday signed Uruguayan left-back Walter Lopez, the club announced on its website.
The 22-year-old joined the managerless London club on a free transfer having left River Plate of Argentina during the summer.
“Walter is a very attacking full-back who can get forward,” caretaker manager Kevin Keen said.
Lopez, who has won three caps and was a free agent, is West Ham's fourth signing of the summer, joining Valon Behrami, Balint Bajner and loanee Jan Lastuvka.
He joins a club still reeling from the resignation of manager Alan Curbishley on Wednesday.
