(GSM) – Ajax striker Miralem Sulejmani is set to join West Ham United on a season-long deal, saying that he is excited by the prospect of playing in the “strongest league in Europe”.
The Hammers have reportedly reached an agreement with Ajax, who have signed Mounir El Hamdaoui from AZ Alkmaar and are close to recruiting Mido, and Sulejmani will move to Upton Park if and when he secures a work permit.
The record club signing, when the Serbia striker joined from Heerenveen in a deal worth in the region of £13 million in the summer of 2008, had scored only 10 goals in 43 league games for the club.
“I am happy that I will play in the strongest league in Europe,” Sulejmani told Sportski Zurnal. “I think that I am up to the challenge and I am convinced that I will get the chance and the opportunities, as Avram Grant was very positive about my qualities.
“As Jol took over, my status changed and this is the biggest reason that I would like to change my environment.”
