Hammers win stadium race

The UK government and London mayor Boris Johnson have approved West Ham’s proposed move to the city’s Olympic Stadium after the 2012 games.

The Olympic Park Legacy Company (OPLC) recommended West Ham’s bid over that of English Premier League and city rivals Tottenham in January, and a statement on Thursday revealed the plan has now been given the green light from government.
