(GSM) – Napoli midfielder Marek Hamsik is set to commit his future to the Naples club despite transfer speculation surrounding the future of the player.
The 22-year-old Slovakia captain is regarded as one of the hottest properties in European football with a number of top clubs after his services.
Milan, Juventus and Manchester United have all been speculated to be as possible suitors but Hamsik is happy to continue with Napoli.
“I’m very happy that the president (of Napoli) is happy with me and values me,” he said.
“We are about to sign a new contract and I think it is only a question of a few days.”
The World Cup will see Hamsik take on Italy in Group F, although the Slovakian skipper first must face the prospect of New Zealand on Tuesday.
The former Brescia player believes the Azzurri will go far this summer but is only concentrating on his game with the All Whites.
“Italy has always been a favourite at every World Cup,” he added. “They are the holders and I think they have a great team with many players who already experienced the World Cup in Germany.
“For now I don’t think so much about the match against Italy. The first match is against New Zealand and I’m concentrating only on that.”
