(GSM) – Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has confirmed that talks over a possible contract extension for Marek Hamsik are progressing well.
The Slovakian playmaker has emerged as one of the most exciting young players in Serie A since his move to Naples club from Brescia in 2007.
A number of top European clubs, including Internazionale and Chelsea, have been credited with an interest in the 22-year-old.
And while, Hamsik admitted last week that he was flattered to attract such attention, he stressed that he was happy at Napoli.
He also revealed that negotiations were planned with the two times Scudetto champions regarding a contract extension.
De Laurentiis has already spoken to Hamsik’s representative and does not believe there will be any problems for him to put pen to paper in the summer.
“We are delighted to have Marek in our family,” De Laurentiis told Radio Marte.
“With his agent we have already discussed the extension of contract.
“In May, we will define everything.”
