Hannover president Martin Kind has revealed the club are looking at alternatives to coach Mirko Slomka following their poor run of form.
Slomka’s side – who have finished in the top half in each of the last three campaigns – sit 13th in the Bundesliga going into the mid-season break, having claimed only five wins from their first 17 games.
Hannover have yet to register an away league win this term, with Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Freiburg the latest setback in a disappointing campaign.
Talks are set to place to determine whether Slomka will remain with the Lower Saxony outfit, but the 46-year-old’s future appears to be under severe threat after Kind confirmed that Hannover sporting director Dirk Dufner is searching for potential replacements.
“We may not be in the relegation zone, but we’ve clearly not reached our objective and the performances have not developed satisfactorily,” Kind told NDR.
“I have asked Mr Dufner to write down some names and profiles.
“We haven’t started any negotiations but we are, of course, checking out the market.
“There are many components which must all fit together and we’ve now got to hold these talks with a responsibility and also fairness, but we’ve necessarily got to make decisions.”
