New Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick is keen on signing Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao in the summer transfer window, according to Fichajes. The report has claimed that Flick wants Williams to play alongside Robert Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal in a three-pronged attack.
Williams has been on the books of Athletic since 2013 and has established himself in the first team of the Spanish club. The 21-year-old Spain international winger made 29 starts and two substitute appearances in La Liga last season, scoring five goals and providing 11 assists in the process. The youngster scored six goals and gave four assists in 32 starts and four substitute appearances in the league in 2022-23.
Barcelona finished second in the La Liga table last season. The Blaugrana picked up 85 points from 38 matches and ended up 10 points behind bitter rivals and eventual champions Real Madrid. As for Athletic, they ended up fifth in the league table with 68 points from 38 games.
