Harry Redknapp has given his take on Tottenham Hotspur potentially signing Gareth Bale from Real Madrid.

The former Tottenham manager worked with Bale when the two of them were at the North London club.

Redknapp rates the Wales international winger highly, and believes that he would be a good signing for Jose Mourinho’s side.

However, the former Spurs boss has added that Bale’s age and lack of playing time at Madrid in recent times means that Mourinho will have to manage him smartly.

According to The Daily Mail, Bale has agreed terms on a season-long loan deal with Tottenham, with Spanish and European giants Madrid to finance part of his salary.

Redknapp said about Bale on Good Morning Transfers on Sky Sports News (10:30am, September 16, 2020): “It’s a waste of a great talent to see him not involved in the team at Real Madrid. He can really make the difference at Tottenham, that’s for sure. He’s such a special talent.”

On Bale’s age and lack of games, Redknapp said: “Well, that is a problem. He’s a great athlete and you look at him and he’s a complete all-round athlete. Great short distance runner. Long-distance. He can head. Dribble and shot. Great footballer.

“Hopefully, he will come and they will take their time with him. Obviously, they are not going to rush him into Saturday, midweek and Saturday games.”

Gareth Bale would make Tottenham Hotspur better

Bale may not have had much playing time at Madrid last season, but the Welshman remains one of the best attacking players in the world and would make Tottenham a better team.

Spurs are rated at 9/2 by Betfair to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season, but if Bale moves to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer, then the North London club will have a much better chance of clinching a Champions League place.
