Harry Redknapp eyes Champions League qualification

Harry Redknapp

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has called upon his club to win their remaining four English Premier League fixtures, claiming that they must do so if they are to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League.

A top four finish was once a formality for Spurs, but an atrocious run in form has seen the north London club fall out of Champions League contention for the time being.

The club’s woes are surely a result of awful form away from White Hart Lane, with Spurs having failed to win a Premier League away from their home ground in 2012.

In fact, Tottenham’s only away win 2012 came at Watford in the FA Cup, which was a result that they really didn’t deserve to be perfectly honest.

All things considered, Tottenham are in desperate need of 12 points to close out the 2011-12 campaign, according to Harry Redknapp.

“We’ve got four games left and we need 12 points,” Redknapp told the club’s official website. “That’s how I see it. We have to win next week against Blackburn and that won’t be easy as they are fighting for their lives.

“It could all change again. Chelsea are playing well, Newcastle have done well, Arsenal go to Stoke. We’ll wait and see.

“There will be more twists and turns, we’ve got to win our last four games and it will be difficult, but we’re capable of doing that. We’re not giving up. We’ve still got a big chance.”

Remaining Fixtures

Now then, Spurs’ remaining four fixtures are very “winnable” to say the least.

Here are the club’s remaining Premier League fixtures:

29 April 2012: Tottenham Hotspur v Blackburn Rovers (White Hart Lane)

2 May 2012: Bolton Wanderers v Tottenham Hotspur (Reebok Stadium)

6 May 2012: Aston Villa v Tottenham Hotspur (Villa Park)

13 May 2012: Tottenham Hotspur v Fulham (White Hart Lane)

With this schedule, Spurs have a great chance of tallying 12-out-of-12 points in their remaining four games.

The north London club will host Blackburn and Fulham at White Hart Lane on April 29 and May 13 respectively.

Blackburn and Fulham are a combined 5-11-17 away from their grounds in league play this season. In case you’re wondering, that’s not good. Not good at all.

Furthermore, Rovers and the Cottagers have conceded a whopping 60 goals in their 33 away fixtures.

Meanwhile, Spurs’ remaining away fixtures are at the Reebok Stadium and Villa Park, not exactly the most challenging games.

Villa and Bolton are a combined 8-9-17 at their respective home grounds, and have a total goal difference of -17.

Subsequently, Spurs should be big favorites in their last four league matches despite having won just one of their last nine league games.

Will Harry Redknapp lead Spurs to a top four finish in the Premier League this season?
