Manchester City F.C. goalkeeper Joe Hart has put pen to paper on a new long-term deal at the Etihad Stadium.
The England international, who has joined the likes of Aleksandar Kolarov, David Silva, Edin Dzeko, Samir Nasri, and Sergio Aguero in signing new contracts with City in 2014, is now under contract with the English Premier League champions until the summer of 2019.
“I’m really happy, I’ve been here a long time now and I want to keep that going,” Hart told mcfc.co.uk.
“The new deal means I get to stay longer – the Club’s doing amazing things at the moment, we’ve created history and we want to keep doing that.
“Wanting to stay here was never going to be an issue for me – I’ve loved every moment since I joined.
“I’m really appreciative that the Club recruited me when they did to bring me to the Premier League and to give me this opportunity.
“The Club’s growing and I’ve been really lucky to be part of the ride.
“I just want to keep winning with the team and keep developing. A lot of the boys have signed long-term deals, so we’re building as a squad and I think that quite a few of us have been here for a long time now.
“We’re enjoying building that winning mentality, how the Club is growing is around us and how we need to grow along with it.”
Hart, 27, has kept six clean sheets in 15 league appearances for City this season, keeping City’s No. 2 Willy Caballero on the bench for all but one league fixture in 2014/15.
Shea leaves Stoke for Orlando City
United States international winger Brek Shea has left EPL outfit Stoke City and signed for MLS side Orlando City, according to the Potters’ official website.
Shea, 24, joined Stoke from FC Dallas in a deal worth £2.5 million in January 2013 but went on to make just five appearances for the Staffordshire-based club.
“Stoke City can confirm that Brek Shea has left the Britannia Stadium to join American Major League Soccer side Orlando City,” read a statement on stokecityfc.com.
“Stoke City would like to wish Brek every success in the future.”
Shea will undoubtedly benefit from playing alongside Kaká next season and should be much more productive than he was on the other side of the Atlantic.
That said, with Bayern Munich’s Julian Green set to establish himself as a regular with the USMNT, do not expect Shea to be a mainstay in Jurgen Klinsmann’s squad.
