Vitesse striker Mike Havenaar will reportedly not make his Eredivisie debut against NEC on Sunday.
The towering marksman joined the club in December from J-League side Ventforet Kofu, but Japanese newspaper Nikkan reports he is yet to receive his work permit and will have to sit out the weekend derby.
The 24-year-old is of Dutch heritage, but was born and raised in Japan and is now an integral part of Alberto Zaccheroni’s Japan squad.
“It’s uncertain whether or not (Havenaar) will be able to play on Sunday,” Vitesse coach John van den Brom said.
Havenaar made his first appearance for his new club in a 2-1 friendly loss against Schalke last week.
