New Vitesse man Mike Havenaar hopes to continue finding the net after scoring his maiden Eredivisie goal in his side’s 3-1 loss to PSV on Friday.
The 24-year-old Japan international, who joined Vitesse from Ventforet Kofu earlier this month, headed home Renato Ibarra’s cross on 84 minutes in his second appearance for the Dutch outfit.
Speaking to reporters after the game, Havenaar said his goal might have been a touch lucky but hoped it was the first of many.
“My opponent was only focused on the ball. It might have been lucky, but a goal is a goal,” Havenaar said.
“I’ll be happy if I can continue to keep scoring like I am used to doing.”
Havenaar, who won the J2-League top-scorer award in 2010, netted 18 goals in 34 appearances for Ventforet last season.
