Following Chelsea’s FA Cup final win over Manchester United on Saturday, Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard, both heavily linked with Real Madrid, were asked about their intentions for the future.
The Mirror have reported that Hazard said his decision hasn’t been made yet. It would depend a lot on the club’s willingness to sign a number of quality players, while Courtois said much the same thing according to Sky Sports. They both feel the club need to prove they are capable of staying abreast with the two Manchester clubs in terms of spending on quality players. The goalkeeper added that he will make his decision after the World Cup.
Such a stance is basically in accordance with what manager Antonio Conte has been saying for a while. The Italian repeated his plea after the final too. His team won the game in a defensive manner, employing a lot of discipline at the back coupled with physicality all over the pitch, and he felt the need to defend such an approach by saying he lacked the right players for a more attacking game.
