Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard hailed his side’s 2-0 win over Newcastle at Stamford Bridge on Sunday as a ‘great evening’.
The Belgian attacking midfielder has had a superb start to life in England, with a goal and six assists in his opening three games, and he is thrilled by his productive start to life in England.
“To play in front of 40,000 fans was a great evening. Especially when there is victory at the end,” Hazard told Telefoot.
“The fans, you really see that they live for the game and that was right for how I needed to grow.”
Despite the challenges facing a young player moving to England from abroad, 21-year-old Hazard said the adjustment has been easy.
“I adapted well. I had to find a house. Everything was done so I could adapt easily. My English is not good enough but everything passes with a smile,” he said.
“When you arrive at a new club, you are always impressed. But after that, you realise those are people like me with two arms and two legs. I have a lot of respect for them.”
Although Hazard is excited about the future in London, he maintains that it was still difficult emotionally to leave Lille.
“I did six to seven years at Lille – those were good times. It pinches my heart to leave. It was like a second family,” he said.
