Hector Bellerin has dropped a hint about potentially staying at Real Betis after his loan from Arsenal expires at the end of the season.
The Spaniard joined Arsenal’s youth setup from Barcelona at the age of 16, and earned first-team promotion with the Gunners three years later. In all competitions, he made a total of 239 appearances with nine goals and 29 assists for the club, before joining Betis on a season-long loan at the very end of this summer’s transfer window. During the months heading into it, he was heavily linked with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan.
Bellerin is due to return to the Emirates at the end of the season, for what should be the last year of his contract with Arsenal. However, as quoted by Sky Sports, the 26-year-old right-back has revealed that he accepted the move to Betis intending to remain there past the expiration of the loan.
“I don’t know, but I’ve always said if I didn’t want to be here next season, I wouldn’t have come from the beginning,” he said.
“There are many things to be decided but what I want to do is enjoy this season that I am here. And what has to happen will happen.”
