Pachuca midfielder Hector Herrera is nearing a switch to Porto, the Mexican club have confirmed.
The talented midfielder has been followed by the Dragons for quite a while now and he even revealed in January that he would be joining the Portuguese giants in the summer transfer window.
The deal has since stalled, but Pachuca head coach Gabriel Caballero has confirmed that the transfer is back on.
“The talks with FC Porto are ongoing,” the former Mexico international was quoted as saying in Record.
Hector Herrera, 22, arrived at Pachuca from Tampico Madero in 2011 and has since made 46 league appearances for the club, scoring 2 goals in the process.
Impressive showings at club level earned him a full Mexico call-up, and he was even in the starting line-up as El Tri shared spoils with Jamaica in a 2014 World Cup qualifier.
Herrera won the 2012 London Olympics with Mexico Under-23 side, making four appearances in the process.
