Heerenveen have announced the return of striker Anthony Lurling on a deal until the end of the season.
The Eredivisie side have a wealth of attacking options but coach Marco van Basten felt the need to add some experience, and the 36-year-old fits the bill.
Lurling has made 17 appearances in the Dutch top flight for NAC Breda this season, scoring one goal, and makes a return to Heerenveen 12 years after leaving the club.
The striker scored 36 league goals in his previous spell at the club and had no hesitation in going back to the Abe Lenstra Stadion.
“Other clubs were interested,” he told the club’s official website. “Then I got a call from Heerenveen, the choice was not difficult.
“Heerenveen has a young and talented team, I can help the team and especially want to be an example on the field.
“I am fit, enjoy my football and can add value with my experience, whether it is on the field or off it.”
Heerenveen are enjoying a strong season, sitting fifth in the Eredivisie, having finished eighth last term.
