Dutch Eredivisie side Heerenveen are set to complete the loan signing of Norwegian midfielder Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid, according to Marca.
The talented youngster will be farmed out on loan to gain some much needed first team experience, and he was widely expected to join Rennes.
However, Marca has learned that Odegaard will instead be signing a short-term deal with Heerenveen.
The youngster was in the Netherlands yesterday and the move should be finalised in the coming days.
Odegaard’s agents believe that Dutch Eredivisie is a perfect competition for their client, who desperately needs regular playing time if he is to continue his development.
The 18-year-old midfielder has been representing Real Madrid Castilla in Segunda B, bagging 3 goals in 13 league appearances.
However, it is clear that he needs to be playing at a higher level if he wants to impress Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane and that is one of the reasons why he chose Heerenveen.
