Sport Bild has learned that veteran goalkeeper Heinz Muller is undergoing a trial with German champions Bayern Munich.
The Bavarians lack the cover for starting shot-stopper Manuel Neuer as both Pepe Reina and Tom Starke are out injured and they are considering offering a contract to the former Mainz player.
The 36-year-old has moved to confirm he is currently training with Bayern, but it remains to be seen whether he will earn a contract at Alianz Arena.
Heinz Muller has spent his early career in Germany, playing for Hannover, Arminia Bielefeld, St Pauli and Jahn Regensburg, before spending next three years in Norway.
He then spent two years playing for Barnsley in the Championship before returning to Bundesliga to join Mainz.
Muller spent the majority of his time at Coface Arena acting as a back-up keeper, making just 65 league appearances during five years at the club before he was released this summer.
