The Metro understands that Liverpool are set to reward Jordan Henderson with a new contract, following the added contribution the midfielder has made so far this season.
The 23 year old initially struggled to adapt to life at Anfield when he switched from Sunderland for £16m in the summer of 2011.
However, he has played all but twenty minutes in the Premier League under Brendan Rodgers so far this season, helping them to fourth place in the table with three months left to play.
Henderson’s current contract will have two years left to run come the summer, when he will hope to be a part of Roy Hodgson’s World Cup squad, though the club’s hierarchy are keen to put a new deal in place due to his improved form.
They have already tied top scorer Luis Suarez down to a long-term contract earlier in the season, while club captain Steven Gerrard penned a one-year extension in the summer.
