Jordan Henderson has urged Liverpool teammate Raheem Sterling to follow him and sign a new contract at Anfield, according to the Mirror.
Former Sunderland man Henderson, who swapped Wearside for Merseyside in the summer of 2011, penned a new long term deal with Brendan Rodgers’ side this week while a question mark hangs over the future of Sterling, who has been linked with a move to Real Madrid.
Since breaking into the Reds’ first team, the winger has racked up one hundred and twenty-two appearances for the club, scoring twenty-three goals while he has also won fourteen caps for England, and opened his international goals account in last month’s 4-0 win over Lithuania in the European Championship qualifiers.
The 20 year old is currently contracted until 2017, and recently turned down a new offer worth £100,000 per week with talks set to recommence at the end of the season.
Liverpool travel to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday afternoon and Sterling is priced at 11/2 to open the scoring.
