Arsenal loanee Thierry Henry has set his sights on the MLS season where the New York Red Bulls hope to dethrone champions LA Galaxy.
Henry, who returned to a hero’s welcome upon his short loan spell with the Gunners, still harbours a bitter taste after the Red Bull’s Western Conference semi-final loss to eventual champions the Galaxy.
The Frenchman returns to Los Angeles next week having scored two goals in five games for Arsenal and knows his side will have to improve if they are to reach the MLS playoff final in his third season.
“(We must) beat them (LA Galaxy). There is nothing else to say. That’s the only thing we have to do better. Beat them,” Henry said.
“Even though I said to you earlier on that they were the best team that goes without saying but in those two playoff games if we had taken our chances at home and away it would have been pretty tight.”
“The return leg that we played against LA was at their place and maybe if we had a better season we could have had that game at our (home ground) and then played the final of the Conference at (home).”
The MLS season commences on March 10, with the Red Bulls travelling to Dallas for their opening match the following day.
