Barcelona star Thierry Henry has been confirmed in the squad to face his old club Arsenal in the Champions League on Wednesday.

His fellow France international Eric Abidal was also among the 20 players who will travel to London for the first-leg quarter-final tie, although he “has not yet received the green light from doctors”, the club said on its website Monday.

Defender Abidal suffered a leg injury in early February, but trained with his teammates on Monday.

Henry has not had to face Arsenal, where he spent eight successful seasons, since he joined the Spanish giants in June 2007 in a four-year deal worth 24 million euros.

The 32-year-old striker is far from certain to start the match however. He has played only 14 Spanish league matches this season, in part through injury, scoring just three goals in all competitions.

With the Arsenal game in mind, Henry was rested in Saturday’s 1-0 win at Real Mallorca along with Gerard Pique, Xavi and Lionel Messi, who has scored 11 goals in his last six games in all competitions.

Midfielder Andres Iniesta will miss the tie due to a thigh injury.
