Thierry Henry has begun training with former club Arsenal as he bids to maintain his fitness in the Major League Soccer off-season.

Henry, 33, joined Barcelona in 2007, ending an eight-year spell with Arsenal during which he won two English Premier League titles, three FA Cups and numerous individual awards.

The former French international – who won the European Championships with his country in 2000 – moved to MLS franchise New York Red Bulls in 2010.

“Thierry Henry is back at Arsenal,” a statement on the club website confirmed.

“The Gunners legend returned to London Colney on Monday to train with Arsene Wenger’s squad. The short-term arrangement will help Henry maintain his fitness ahead of the new MLS campaign, which begins in March.”

“Henry joined the New York Red Bulls last year and helped them reach the play-offs, where they lost on aggregate to San Jose Earthquakes in November.”
