(GSM) – David Trezeguet has revealed that he will be fulfilling a dream by playing in Spain as he edges closer in completing his move to Primera Division new boys Hercules.

Trezeguet, who left Juventus this weekend after a decade with the Italian superpowers, during which time he won four Serie A titles, was a record scorer with 171 goals.

And the 32-year-old Frenchman is set to join Alicante-based Hercules, who are back in the top flight this season after an absence of 13 years.

Speaking following his arrival in the Spanish city, Trezeguet said: “I wanted to know the Spanish league. For me it was an important objective in my career.”

Of Hercules, the 1998 World Cup and 2000 European Championship winner was quoted as saying by radio station Cope Alicante: “I’ve seen a team with ambition who want to do things well.

“I’m very happy to be in Alicante and I’m going to complete a dream. After spending 10 years in a league like the Italian, having played at a club as important as Juventus, having won so many titles and being the leading foreign goalscorer of the team, this for me is a new adventure.”

Hercules suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to Athletic Bilbao in their opening Primera Division match this weekend, and their next fixture sees them make the daunting trip to champions Barcelona following the international break.

After that match Hercules after another tough game, at home to east coast neighbours Valencia.

Trezeguet added: “We will see if I play or not against Barcelona, but I’m sure I will against against Valencia, which is a game that Alicante has been waiting for for a long time.”
