The agent of Javier Hernandez has rubbished speculation that the striker could leave Bayer Leverkusen in a €25million deal this month.
A report in Germany has claimed that the Mexico international could be sold in January if the Bundesliga club’s asking price is met.
It is also rumoured that the 28-year-old, who has been linked with Paris Saint-Germain and a possible return to the Premier League, has become unsettled after a falling-out with some of his team-mates.
But his representative, Eduardo Hernandez, has dismissed the story as a malicious attempt to smear his reputation and insists he does not want to leave the BayArena.
“First of all, the claim that Javier has a bad relationship with his team-mates and the club is a great lie,” he told La Aficion. “Secondly, neither is it true that the club is allowing him to leave for 25 million euros.
“It all comes down to an answer that the club gave me: Javier was not for sale.
“This is a badly aimed report, badly done, with bad intentions. It’s only there to tarnish the image of Javier. He’s not even thinking about leaving the club.”
Subsequent reports in England this week have said that Leverkusen could be willing to listen to offers at the end of the season, even though they have no intention of selling the striker now.
His agent has admitted that there is consistent interest in the former Manchester United man but has denied that Leverkusen are preparing to cash in.
“It’s not that I’ve had offers,” he said. “There are phone calls asking me about Javier’s situation, there are various clubs in various leagues who have asked about him, but the response is the same: I cannot determine his future without having spoken with the club with whom he currently has a contract.
“The club has been asked and Bayer Leverkusen say ‘he’s not for sale’, so there’s absolutely nothing.”
Hernandez has scored seven times in 23 appearances this season, although he is without a goal in the Bundesliga since the 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund on October 1.
