Lazio coach Edy Reja on Friday praised new Brazilian signing Hernanes for his versatility.

Lazio signed the 25-year-old midfielder on a five-year deal from Sao Paulo earlier this month and officially unveiled him on Friday.

“I’m delighted to be here, I want to thank Lazio, I’m realising a dream to play in a big club with a great tradition and great fans,” said Hernanes.

Reja said the midfielder would be able to fill a variety of roles.

“He will give us depth in midfield, he can play in all three midfield roles, I think he’ll adapt easily,” said the coach.

Club president Claudio Lotito said Hernanes had come to Lazio to win things.

“He gives extra value to our team and to our fans. Everyone is aware of his technical qualities, but he also has the personality to excite the fans.

“He told me he wanted to win things, just as he did with Sao Paulo.”

Hernanes won two Brazilian titles with Sao Paulo and was named Brazilian player of the year in 2008.
