Herrera set for Atletico Madrid

According to a recent report from AS, Atletico Madrid are closing in on the signature of Hector Herrera. Over the course of the last few months the Spanish club’s top stars have all been linked with a move away, but now, it seems like it’s Atletico’s turn to start some rumours of their own. Herrera has been with Porto since back in 2013, when he made the jump over from Pachuca. He is also a regularly featured member of the Mexican national team, making his debut in 2012.

At the age of 28 he’s just starting to come into his prime, and he certainly seems like the kind of midfielder that Atletico would like to have on their books.

If they can manage to keep hold of Thomas Partey, who has been heavily linked with a move away as of late, then their chances of domestic & European success next season will increase even further.
