Hertha BSC earned their fourth consecutive Bundesliga victory against 1.FC Köln on Friday, and move into second place behind Hoffenheim.
Gojko Kacer put the Berlin outfit ahead in the 24th minute but a Novakovic header levelled things just before the break.
The winner came in the 86th minute. Two substitutes made the difference as Patrick Ebert’s corner kick enabled Marko Pantelic to head past keeper Mondragon for 2-1.
In the worst scenario, Hertha would end the week in third place as current numbers three and four, Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Münich, face each other on Saturday.
Köln, for whom this was their third defeat in a row, are currently in 10th place but risk dropping one or two spots.
