Hertha BSC have signed defender Christoph Janker from TSG Hoffenheim. The player will join the Berlin side on a free transfer.

Janker’s contract with Hoffenheim expires at the end of this month, which means that Hertha won’t have to pay a free for their new addition.

“A transfer to Hertha BSC is the next step in my development,” said the 24-year-old. “I would like to play as many games as possible and am looking forward to the great atmosphere inside the Olympiastadion.”

Janker began his career at 1860 Munich in 2003 and joined Hoffenheim three years later.
