Aston Villa striker Emile Heskey refused Fabio Capello’s offer to come out of international retirement and help England in the Euro 2012 qualifier against Macedonia.
Heskey, who’s been in fine form this season, rejected the offer to return to the international fold just few months after retiring from England.
Fabio Capello had earlier said he planned to call Heskey for the Macedonia game.
“Heskey has played very well and he is in a good moment. The new manager (Gerard Houllier) knows him very well from his time at Liverpool.
“We’ll try to speak with Heskey. We need him at this moment. We are talking about him for the one game against Montenegro.”
Even with Jermain Defoe, Bobby Zamora and Gabriel Agbonlahor all unavailable, the Italian manager said he wouldn’t call Michael Owen, although Wayne Rooney will be in the squad after saying he is 100% fit to play.
