Thirty-year old England striker Emile Heskey has said that it would be ‘lovely’ to sign for his old club Liverpool. Heskey played one hundred and fifty times for Liverpool between 2000 and 2004 and recent press speculation has linked the player with a return to Anfield.
He told the BBC, “It would be lovely. We’ll see how it goes.”
The forward’s form led to him saying this week that he has a desire to play Champions League football, and the plaudits he has received about his England performances have raised the possibility of one more big money move for the likeable front man.
“When you’re performing well, speculation is going to come around. Everyone knows I’m in my last year of my contract so you’ve just got to take everything with a pinch of salt and carry on playing. I’m going to keep my options open and give 110% for Wigan and see how it goes and maybe sit down with them.”
Heskey’s boss at Wigan, Steve Bruce, says what has happened is staggering and he feels that it is Heskey’s physical fitness which is helping him stand out. He is also thrilled that his centre forward is playing for England, but less thrilled that he must resign himself to losing him at the end of this season.
