Jupp Heynckes says Bayern Munich have moved on from their disastrous end to the 2011/12 campaign.
Bayern missed out on the Bundesliga title, DFB-Pokal and Champions League in dramatic fashion in the decisive stages of last term.
The Champions League defeat was particularly traumatic, as they lost on penalties to Chelsea in front of their own fans at the Allianz Arena.
Nevertheless, Heynckes has claimed his troops are refreshed and completely focused on the new season.
“We’ve put last season behind us once and for all. We’ve restored our energy and motivation and we’re aiming at new targets,” Heynckes said.
The Bayern coach looked ahead to the DFB-Pokal match against second tier Jahn Regensburg, and warned his players not to underestimate Monday’s opponents.
“I’m delighted it’s starting up again,” he said when asked about the new season.
“Victory would give us a boost for the championship – and we’re going there to win.
“With their fans behind them, Regensburg will play beyond their normal limits, so we have to take them very, very seriously.”
