Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes believes Toni Kroos is as talented as Germany legends Wolfgang Overath and Gunter Netzer.
The 21-year-old midfielder has been a mainstay in Germany’s first XI since the start of the season, appearing in no less than 24 games.
Heynckes could not resist likening the youngster to two of the top German footballers of all time.
“I have seen his unlimited potential,” the coach said. “At the moment, I see Toni Kroos as further developed than Wolfgang Overath and Gunter Netzer at the same age.”
The 66-year-old coach also revealed that key midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger would only return to action in January.
“I would have liked to have him available (in the last two matches of 2011),” Heynckes said.
“Bastian is very disappointed about this, too.”
Bayern are three points clear at the top of the Bundesliga table, while they are seeded for Friday’s last-16 draw for the Champions League.
