Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes praised his side for their first-half performance in Saturday’s 4-0 rout of Hertha Berlin in the Bundesliga.
The Bavarian giants were 3-0 up within 13 minutes, courtesy of goals from Mario Gomez, Franck Ribery and Bastian Schweinsteiger before Gomez added his second from the penalty spot later on.
Bayern moved five points clear at the top of the league and Heynckes was complimentary of his players, although he did admit they were guilty of missing good chances.
“When you lead 3-0 after 13 minutes, you can see how well we play football and particularly on the first-half, we played an outstanding goal,” Heynckes told Kicker after the game.
“Yet we can criticise the fact we failed to convert our chances. Altogether, I must say that my team are playing in a very focused manner and above all, they’re hungry for success.”
Bayern travel to Italy midweek where they will face Napoli in the Champions League, looking to maintain their 100 percent start in Group A.
