Bayern Munich head coach Jupp Heynckes is relishing the prospect of the Bavarian derby against Nuremberg on Saturday.
The Bundesliga leaders lost just their second league game of the season when they were beaten 2-1 by Hannover last Sunday, and will be wary of a desperate Nuremberg side out for their first derby win over Bayern since 2007.
“I think derbies are always very special, especially against Nuremberg,” Heynckes said.
“I have the statistics in mind and I could be very optimistic about the game. Of course I am optimistic, but I think that Nuremberg is a hard game to play.”
“They have a good defence, they work very well defensively. When they have space they use it with their fast players and their good attacking play. We have to prepare ourselves for a squad that is fighting and running a lot. We will need a very good performance, but I think that we can manage it.”
Nuremburg held Bayern 1-1 in the previous meeting between the two clubs in April, but have not won in the Bundesliga since September 11 and sit in 13th.
