Competition: Scottish Premiership
Market: Hibernian win
Odds: 1/1 @ 888sport
Hoping to build off of what has been a glittering start to the new campaign, a high-flying Hibernian will welcome Motherwell to Easter Road on Saturday evening.
Starting with the hosts, while Hibernian might have found themselves battling it out in the bottom half of the standings before last year’s Premiership campaign was brought to an early halt, few would have expected a stunning start for Jack Ross’ side. Picking up a 1-0 win away at a returning Dundee United earlier in the week, the former Sunderland boss has seen his side win each of their opening three matchups this time around, only title-chasers Rangers can also boast a 100% start to the new campaign. With leading marksman Christian Doidge bagging the winner away at Tannadice Park on Tuesday night, the former Forest Green striker has bagged back-to-back strikes and played a vital role as Ross’ men marched to a stunning 4-1 win away at Livingston last weekend. Enjoying their brightest run of 2020, Saturday’s hosts should be confident of making another statement.
As for the visitors, while the mood around Easter Road is at the highest it has been in recent memory, Motherwell appear to still be struggling with some of the glaring issues that haunted them at the back end of last year’s interrupted campaign. While the Steelmen might have managed to collect their first point of the new season thanks to a dramatic 2-2 draw against fellow scrappers Livingston in midweek, Stephen Robinson’s men opened up this year with a pair of worrying 1-0 defeats against a pair of Premiership returners in the form of Dundee and Ross County. Continuing on from last season, Motherwell have remarkably managed to win just one of their previous 11 top-flight contests, a run that stems back to January 22nd. Hit with a 3-1 defeat when they last made the trip to Hibs, we’re backing a similar outcome on Saturday evening.
