Hibs leapfrogged Rangers to claim second place in the Scottish Premier League on Saturday but were left frustrated after being held to a 1-1 draw at home by ten-man Dundee Untied.

With Rangers entertaining league leaders Celtic on Sunday, the Easter Road club looked set to pull three points clear of the Ibrox giants after Merouane Zemmama gave them a first-half lead.

But former Hearts and Scotland defender Andy Webster levelled with a deflected shot 18 minutes from time and, despite United being reduced to ten men in the closing stages, Hibs were unable to find the winner.

Prince Buaben was shown a straight red card by referee Mike Tumilty following an off-the-ball incident involving Hibs striker Anthony Stokes.

Elsewhere, St Johnstone finally claimed their first league win of the season with a 2-0 success at Hamilton.

Steven Anderson marked his SPL debut with the opener and Danny Grainger added a superb second as St Johnstone moved above their hosts at the bottom of the table.

On-loan Everton striker Lukas Jutkiewicz headed in from an 18th-minute corner to give Motherwell a 1-0 victory against Falkirk.

Aberdeen stretched their unbeaten league run to six games thanks to Gary McDonald’s late equaliser against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.

Australian midfielder Danny Invincibile gave the home side a deserved 77th-minute lead but, six minutes from the end, home goalkeeper Mark Brown fumbled a Charlie Mulgrew free-kick and McDonald, a former Kilmarnock midfielder, gleefully knocked the ball into the empty net.

Craig Dargo’s strike earned St Mirren the points against Hearts in what was the Buddies’ first league win at home since they moved to the new St Mirren Park in January.

Hearts had taken the lead through Jose Goncalves but Steven Thomson levelled for Saints before Dargo clinched a 2-1 win.
