Turkey boss Guus Hiddink says he will not leave his current job in order to accept the vacant position as director of football at Ajax.
The Eredivisie champions have long been linked with the former Netherlands national team coach, but Hiddink has always insisted he will respect his contract with the Turkish Football Federation (TFF).
Turkey’s 3-0 loss to Croatia in the first leg of their Euro 2012 play-off further fuelled speculation that Hiddink could be on his way to Amsterdam but the 65-year-old has ruled out the move.
“I will not move to Ajax,” Hiddink told NOS. “This is something of the past and it’s not going to happen anymore. There’s always a lot of unrest at the club, which is typical for Ajax and Amsterdam.”
Hiddink will discuss his future with the TFF after Tuesday’s Euro 2012 play-off second leg in Croatia.
