Higuain: Every match a final

Gonzalo Higuain has urged his Real Madrid team-mates to remain focused during the crucial final matches of their season.

Real recorded a hard-fought 3-1 home win over Sporting Gijon on Saturday to maintain their four-point lead over Barcelona in La Liga.

On Tuesday they travel to face Bayern Munich in the Champions League semi-final first leg at the Allianz Arena.

And Argentina striker Higuain has targeted victory in every remaining La Liga fixtures, including the Clasico away to Barca.

“Five finals remain and we must win them come what may,” he said.

“The league title is at stake and we must remain calm to win every game. That’s all we think about,”

Higuain told the club’s official website.

“It was a complicated match. We knew Sporting would make it difficult for us and that they would defend as best as they possibly could. We worked hard for a victory and we’re happy.”

Higuain looked ahead to the clash with Bayern Munich, and acknowledged a difficult task awaits.

“We must now think about the Champions League and Bayern Munich,” he said.

“Bayern Munich are a tough opponent in a tie preceding the final we all want to play. We’ll rest in order to prepare well.”
