Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain has put Arsenal on high alert after telling the Metro that he would welcome a move to the Emirates.
The Argentine international has confirmed in recent weeks that his future is away from the Bernabeu, where he has fallen down the pecking order behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema.
A host of Premier League clubs, and Serie A Champions Juventus have shown an interest in the 25 year old, who despite limited game time, managed sixteen league goals last season.
Higuain is also currently the top scorer in South American World Cup qualifying, and will be keen to establish himself in the international set up ahead of next summer’s tournament in Brazil.
The former River Plate man may prove to the most viable option for the Gunners, as they continue to struggle to come to an agreement over a price for fellow target Stevan Jovetic, and would be more affordable than Wayne Rooney of Manchester United.
