Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain after stepping up negotiations in the last 48 hours, the Metro understands.
The Gunners, who have been strongly linked with the Argentina international for some time have already agreed personal terms, and are now finalising a fee with the Spanish giants.
The 25 year old had also been approached by Juventus, though their advances appear to have waned as they are in the process of wrapping up a deal for Manchester City’s Carlos Tevez.
Napoli are also thought to be interested, though Higuain’s agent has confirmed that he is on the verge of moving to the Premier League.
An initial fee of £22m is expected to change hands, with a further £3m to follow in additional payments, based on the player’s success.
Higuain has scored 107 goals in 176 appearances for Real since signing from River Plate in 2006.
