Stuttgart midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger admits he could leave the Bundesliga side in order to get regular first-team football.
The 27-year-old has not been a regular for Stuttgart this season and if he wants to be a part of Germany’s squad for the World Cup this summer, he could be forced to leave.
“I would love to stay on at VFB Stuttgart now, though a transfer would be a stopgap at this point in time,” he said.
“Joachim Low (Germany coach) has told me I should be playing regularly.
“A striker might be able to sit and wait for a while, he will end up getting a game and scoring a goal.
“This is different to my situation, I am no striker.
“I will have another chat with VFB manager Christian Gross to definitely know my chances for a place in the first-team.
“For me a transfer would only make sense if I end up at a club where I can get regular action from the start and have no need to adjust.”
