Roy Hodgson is demanding a top-half finish from West Bromwich Albion before he leaves to manage England, according to captain Chris Brunt.
Albion have two Premier League games left, away to Bolton on Sunday before finishing the season at home to Arsenal, and Hodgson will take charge of both matches before he leads the Three Lions to Euro 2012.
West Brom currently sit 10th in the table, one point behind their tally from last season, and Brunt is adamant that the players and the manager are focused on these two fixtures.
“We want to beat last season’s points tally and the gaffer will want us to finish in the top 10,” he told the Daily Mirror.
“It’s been difficult this week with all that’s gone on, but we’ll keep our eye on the ball.
“With Bolton still in the relegation battle, we owe it to the clubs down there to put a shift in, the way we have against Blackburn, QPR and (Aston) Villa in the last few weeks.”
West Brom revealed earlier this week that they have begun the search for Hodgson’s replacement, but in the meantime Brunt insists that there will be no ill feelings towards their departing boss.
“We’re all delighted for him, he’s been brilliant since he came in,” he added.
“I don’t think there’s any surprise among the players that he got the job.”
