Fulham boss Roy Hodgson feels the club needs to invest in new players in the summer transfer window.
The Cottagers just managed to avoid relegation from the Premier League last season.
“If things go well and we stay above relegation, it is up to the chairman to decide where the club goes,” Hodgson is quoted as saying in The Sun.
“To take us to the next step will not be purely down to coaching but also our recruitment to help strengthen the fragile squad we already have.
“I believe we’ll have a meeting, after which time I will be able to tell more.
“I think 40 points is regarded as the number that can keep you safe. So we will see how high we get. I think you are entitled to start looking to Europe, but it is important to remain humble.”
