Schalke defender Benedikt Hoewedes has called on his team to improve their finishing after a 2-0 win over Greuther Fuerth on Saturday.
Julian Draxler and Lewis Holtby netted goals to condemn the promoted outfit to a second home defeat in a row.
But Schalke missed a hatful of chances that could have secured the victory well before the final whistle and Hoewedes wants an improvement in that area.
“Fuerth fought well. They went for every ball, but we expected that,” Hoewedes told the club’s website.
“However, I think we were the better team.”
“Still, we did not finish enough chances. We had many good moments and scoring opportunities, which could have led to two or three more goals, but we didn’t take them.
“The important thing is that we picked up three points. That’s what matters most in the end.”
Schalke’s latest result puts them level on points with local rivals and German champions Borussia Dortmund.
