Looking to climb into the top-four, a high-flying Hoffenheim will welcome relegation scrappers Mainz to the PreZero Arena on Sunday evening.

Starting with the hosts, picking up a 2-1 win away at Koln prior to the international break, few across Germany would have expected Hoffenheim’s stellar start to the new season. With their sights set on bringing European football back to the PreZero Arena, Head Coach Alfred Schreuder finds his side enjoying a six-match winning run, a run highlighted by a famous 2-1 victory over defending champions Bayern Munich last month. With a growing reputation for their form in the final third, Hoffenheim have also landed back-to-back victories on home soil, bagging five strikes in those two victories.

As for the visitors, while the mood in Hoffenheim’s camp might be continuing to soar, Mainz find themselves in a battle at the foot of the table. Suffering a 3-2 loss against Union Berlin on home soil prior to the international break, there is no doubt that fans around the Opel Arena will still be feeling the effects of their embarrassing 8-0 hammering against RB Leipzig earlier in the month. Sadly for Head Coach Rouven Schröder, along with his side holding the worst defensive record in Germany’s top-tier, Mainz have lost five of their six matches on the road this season and Sunday’s trip to the PreZero Arena could be another agonizing 90 minuets.
