Hoffenheim have completed the signing of Anthony Modeste on a three-year contract from Bordeaux.
Modeste, who had a spell with Blackburn in the 2011-12 season, moves to the Bundesliga following an impressive loan stint at Ligue 1 outfit Bastia.
The 25-year-old scored 17 goals in 37 games for the Corsicans last term but was still deemed surplus to requirements by Bordeaux.
However, that impressive form has convinced Hoffenheim, who narrowly avoided relegation from the German top flight after a play-off with second-tier side Kaiserslautern, to swoop for the former France Under-21 international.
“We’ve had our eye on Anthony for a while and are delighted that we could arrange a deal for him,” manager Markus Gisdol told the club’s official website.
Modeste added: “The conversations between myself, Markus Gisdol and Alexander Rosen (development performance centre manager) convinced me that Hoffenheim was the right club to join.
“I’m pleased to be here and will do all I can to help the team to success.”
